People in the Community Church

So, who are the people at the Community Church?

The Community Church is made up of people from all walks of life.  Artists, nurses, retired policeman and residential care managers.  An ex pub landlady, helpers in the befriending scheme.  Citizen’s Advice worker, retired housewives. etc.

Are they any better than others?  They would just see themselves as recognizing the love of God for themselves and ready to trust Him for the pressures of life whilst seeking to do what they can in the strength and gifts that He has given.

Come and join us, we love to see newcomers and will make you very welcome.

Paul Astle

Paul is one of the leadership team in the Community Church and  his leadership role is now increasing with the team.  Since September 2016, Paul has been taking the lead with the congregation at the local level.  Paul works closely with the other leaders of the Nottingham Community Church currently based in Beeston, so we have two groups in Broxtowe at present.

Through their positive, long-standing and caring relationships at the Phoenix Community Centre on Hilltop, Eastwood, Paul and his wife Jane are well known  within the community.

Paul also conducts funerals on behalf of friends, family, the wider community and the Community Church.

God Cares for us in our Humanity – Joe Edwards

Joe is a regular friend of Eastwood Community Church and is part of the Community Church Derby, one of our partner congregations in EMCF.

Joe talks about the apostle Peter, describing his intention to be faithful to God and  how Jesus does not belittle but does adjust his thinking.  An encouraging talk for those who are aware of their failures.

John Shep’s Story

Sunday 3rd November saw John Shep sharing his story with us.

This is well worth listening to and can be found below and in our downloads section.

John will be telling us about his early years and how this impacted his life in major ways.  He will also be conveying to us other major upsets in his life and how he dealt with it.

This is a moving story – don’t miss it!  You will be blessed.

Growing in Grace

Chris brought this talk on Sunday 13th October, 2013 where he talked from the apostle Peter’s second letter and the very last verse.  Handling difficult circumstances?   Peter knew about persecution and mockery etc.   He had a very simple approach to life with profound effectiveness though.

There were some glitches in this recording so parts in the middle have been removed.  We think that the basic principles will still come through very clearly.

Lick here to listen.
